Basic combat demo for Deadnaught, an upcoming horror-themed mech 2D top down shooter, with an X-COM like strategy layer. 

This only runs on a Windows machine and possibly Mac/Linux/Chromebook, unfortunately mobile isn't supported at this time.

Welcome to World War III.

Deadnaught is set in our world in the near future, where a massive red landmass has appeared pratically overnight where the Marianas Trench used to be. Massive hordes of gigantic spherical flying monsters appeared. moving at incredible speeds, spewing hordes of insectlike creatures across the planet. The globe was overrun with bizarre monsters within the space of days, brutally obliterating most of humanity.

Inexplicably, all forms of electrical motor and internal combustion technology fail in proximity to the creatures, making mobility and retaliation almost impossible. The remnant strongholds of humanity are left clinging to static defenses and eroding walls, trapped and slowly running out of resources.

Working in desperation, the engineers aboard an international orbital reseach and engineering facility cobble together a combat platform that might be able to combat the tides of monsters. In lieu of conventional engines, a disturbing choice of motive and power systems was selected instead - the corpse of a powerful Scyllan bipedal monster, with undying musculature and a biological nuclear reactor for a heart.

You are an industrial drone operator, serving out your contract on the ISRMP satellite outpost. Normally you pilot worker drones on the surface of the satellite platform, repairing and maintaining the rickety facility. Today you are assigned to be the operator of a macabre, powerful, highly mobile weapons platform, built around the corpse of a dead monster.

The full game will feature varied missions investigating monster strongholds and unusual phenomena, resource capture missions, missions defending human remnant factions and so on. Research, engineering and other facilities can also be built in the orbital facility, allowing the Deadnaught various upgrades, tools, weapons and equipment as development is invested in. 

Upcoming

As more mission types, enemies and a destructible terrain system is added, this demo will be updated. In the longer term I aim to eventually release Deadnaught in Steam Early Access and then go from there.
